Hiroshi Sugimoto
Currently loving the work of Hiroshi Sugimoto. Really like his 'stillness in time' work, it seems to be having a huge influence with various ideas of my brief. I personally like the 'theater' project.
'in which he photographs auditoriums of American movie theaters, and drive-in movies, during showings. The exposure time used for the photograph corresponds with the projection time of the film. This allows him to save the duration of the entire film in a single shot'.
Really intrigued behind his vision behind this and what he thinks about it and what i personally think about this.
1. Very interesting that the picture from the projection screen creates this huge white rectangle.
2. A Gateway. More of a religious look into this, a gateway to another dimension, religion, world. Over so much time been recorded this 'gateway' opens and you all of a sudden expect the stereotypical image of someone appearing from the 'other side'.
3. A full feature film turned into one documentation. This document has a life of 2hrs (length of the the possible film), its interesting that 2hrs of footage has been documented in this way.
