Dustup & Feed Posters

A selection of posters created for the seminar @ feed. For the feed posters i have especially gone down the pixelated/transmission theme being as the speaker is from beautiful TV. Really like some of the final outcomes, prefer the simplicty finals compared to the others.

For the dustup poster i have totally gone the opposite of keeping in with the 'trend' of feed. Especially like the simplicty of it with the brush typeface. Its simple and i think it works, maybe variation in colors will work well.

Soho Road x Type

Christmas Cards

Gone for a more abstract approach here. I really like the different color tone of squares complimenting each other to create an intriguing picture for the viewer.

My idea is based around Christmas Numbers Ones. Going for a more clean cut finish with these cards. In two minds about the composistion of the numbers. I do like the two tone color way with the use of 'christmas' colors.

Kanye West - Runaway

Premier of the Kanye West first movie that he produced on Saturday night and i was quite excited in what to expect from it. Obviously alot of people dislike Kanye because of what he speaks and the way he acts, i can admit that some of it is outrageous what he does but in terms of his creativeness, i think that he is a genius. The film is based on Kanye's perspective of last years incident at the VMA’s with Taylor Swift and his thoughts on the media. The film also features music off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy such as Lost In The World, Power, Lights, and Runaway..This video was truly inspiring and a vision in the way Kanye thinks. I have only got to this part of the film, i then stopped watching it because i don't think anything can top this part of the film. I watched it and became fixed throughout. Truly amazing piece of cinematography here:

London Trip & Free Range View

So we went on our first trip of the year down to London. Our main purpose of the trip was to have a look at the free range space that we could be using for next years show. But before we checked that out we went to Loud Flash, which is a unique exhibition of punk posters and collateral curated by the artist and designer Toby Mott. It was exhibited at the Haunch Of Venison which was a first for myself as well.

Really enjoyed this exhibition on many levels. Firstly because it gave a very open insight into what our society was back then and what my mom had to deal with, especially the national front and music culture. Secondly i have grown to like the composition and the letter forms been used for the posters & zines. The bold colors, the jagged edges and the sans serif fonts work very well, seems to be a key element within this era. Probably because this era was such a 'statement' era and a lot of people had many opinions among themselves and they wanted to voice them. Lastly, it gave me alot of ideas for my zine that i am producing. At first i wanted to keep it clean cut and elegant, but now im swaying more towards very punk driven fonts and layouts. Something to look more into maybe.

Then we headed over to brick lane to check out our space for free range. Quite happy that we have the same space as they did last year as i think the coverage that your getting is second to none and it would benefit us all. Looking at the space with no installations in gave me a few ideas on what i can go with. Looking forward to getting on with it now.

We then made our way over to the white cube and another gallery to get an understanding on how to present our work and maybe get a wider picture of looking at how we can go about doing this. Quite a nice little gallery and exhibition, which was quite eye opening to setting up installations.
